  • Africa Writes Festival in London
    Where: British Library, London
    When: Friday 1 to Sunday 3 July 2016
    PEN SA member Yewande Omotoso will be speaking at the Africa Writes Festival in London. On Saturday 2 July she will be launching her latest novel, The Woman Next Door, at 1:30 PM. On Sunday 3 July she will be taking part in a panel discussion titled “African Books to Inspire” at 12 PM and teaching a creative writing workshop at 2:30 PM.

  • 9th triennial congress of the Shakespeare Society of Southern Africa
    Where: Think!Fest Grahamstown
    When: Monday 4 to Thursday 7 July 2016
    Former PEN SA Board Member Geoffrey Haresnape will be reading a paper titled “Psychological, emotional and spiritual violence: Ophelia and the Church of the Exquisite Panic” at the 9th triennial congress of the Shakespeare Society of Southern Africa on Wednesday 6 July at 11:45 AM. The congress is being held at Think!Fest during the National Arts Festival.

    PEN SA member Patricia Schonstein will be presenting Stanzas #4 at Off-the-Wall poetry.
  • Botsotso Cape Town poetry book launches

    When: Friday 15 July, 6 for 6:30 PM
    Botsotso invites you to a reading to celebrate the publication of four new poetry books.

  • Literary Madness! with John Maytham, compiled by Finuala Dowling

    From Hamlet to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, John Maytham presents an hour of dramatic, funny, poignant and frightening evocations of madness drawn from some of the world’s most brilliant texts. In compiling the script, PEN SA member Finuala Dowling has sought out memorable extracts from writers – including Woolf, Jung, Winterson and O’Neill – whose best works are lit up by the author’s intimate understanding of what it is like to live within a disordered mind.
  • Launch of Wild as it Gets by Don Pinnock

    PEN SA member Don Pinnock will be launching his new book, Wild as it Gets, in conversation with PEN SA Board Member Justin Fox.
