The 2018 Vodacom Journalist of the Year Awards are Open

Submissions for the Vodacom Journalist of the Year Awards are open for the 2018 edition, this year including a number of new categories. The awards, which recognise regional excellence before a national finale, are themed “The Pen is Mightier than the Sword”.

The revised categories for 2018 are: Live reporting/ breaking news; Investigative; Opinion; Lifestyle; Photography; Sport; Economics; Politics; CSI; Data Journalism; Multi-platform; Young Journalist of the Year Award.

Regional category winners will receive R5 000 each, national category winners take home R10 000 each, with the coveted national accolade of Vodacom Journalist of the Year Award winner receiving R100 000.

The judging panel this year includes PEN SA member Arthur Goldstuck. Entries may only be made online.
