We are pleased to announce that PEN South Africa will be presenting two events at this year’s Open Book Festival, which is being held from 6 – 10 September. Join us at the following two events: Women’s Manifesto and The Sellout and scroll down to see which PEN SA members will be speaking at the Festival.

  • Women’s Manifesto
    Where: Homecoming Centre Workshop, Cape Town
    When: Wednesday 6 September 2017, 10 AM
    Cost: Free
    PEN SA President Nadia Davids is joined by Board Member Gabeba Baderoon, Buhle Ngaba and Sindiswa Busuku-Mathese as they reflect on how the Women’s Manifesto – a document that insists on the connection between freedom and writing – speaks to their own experience as women writers.

    Where: Fugard Theatre, Cape Town
    When: Thursday 7 September 2017, 8 PM
    Cost: R45
    Paul Beatty speaks about his Man Booker prize-winning novel The Sellout with Harry Garuba.
