Fiona Khan’s Travelling Books Project

11 Sep 2016

Message from PEN SA member Fiona Khan:

I have initiated a project many moons ago. As an author for 25 years in South Africa I have spread literature and literacy to many schools and campuses.
The project is called the Travelling Books under the banner Global Forum 4 Literacy. The concept is simple. Donate books to the organisation so that it can be invested in libraries especially school libraries. But taking this further books will be sent to schools in need of literature and literacy. All you have to do is sponsor or donate a book/books for children and/or youth. If you have books at home that are not being used or they have been used and are no longer of significance in your home, then those books belong to another child to have some of the joy that you have experienced. The email is: globalforum4literacy@gmail.com do let me know if you are keen to participate. This idea will extend to other countries too under the banner of The Travelling Books: Globalforum4literacy. Remember educate or make someone literate, you educate a nation.
Please forward to all your groups and organisations. Let’s make this message travel like The Travelling Books
It is literacy week. Can we aim for a 1000 books or more?
Publishers can forward books as pulp fiction or books that can make a difference to children’s lives.
Address for delivery will be given to those who are positively contributing to this project once an email has been sent requesting the drop off point.

Stay blessed and stay in the light.

Fiona Khan
