Writing in Troubled Times: A Reading in Solidarity with Gaza

Inspired by the theme of PEN International’s 90th Congress in September 2024, ‘Writers in a World at War’, PEN South Africa will be hosting a series of conversations and readings titled ‘Writing in Troubled Times.’ The first instalment in the series is ‘A Reading in Solidarity with Gaza’ organised by Gabeba Baderoon. 

The reading will feature contributions from Rustum Kozain, J. M.  Coetzee, Zukiswa Wanner, Mishka Hoosen, Masande Ntshanga, Jolyn Phillips, Zubeida Jaffer, and Abdulrazak Gurnah. 

The reading will take place online on Friday, 18 July 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM (South African Standard Time).
