Three PEN SA Members on the 2016 UJ Prize Shortlist

PEN SA members Yewande Omotoso, who is also a Board Member, Mohale Mashigo and Sindiswa Busuku-Mathese have been shortlisted for the 2016 University of Johannesburg Prize for South African Writing in English. Omotoso is shortlisted on the Main Prize with The Woman Next Door. Mashigo and Busuku-Mathese are on the Debut Prize shortlist for The Yearning and Loud and Yellow Laughter respectively.

The University of Johannesburg has revealed that approximately 60 works were submitted, from which the shortlisted books were selected.

The main prize is R75 000.
The debut prize is R35 000.

A prize-giving ceremony will be held at a function later in the year.
