PEN SA members shortlisted for Nommo Awards

PEN SA would like to extend a hearty congratulations to PEN SA professional members Imraan Coovadia, Mohale Mashigo and Tiah Marie Beautement on being among those shortlisted for the 2019 Nommo Awards.

The Nommo Awards recognise works of speculative fiction by Africans. This includes science fiction, fantasy, stories of magic and traditional belief, alternative histories, horror and “strange stuff that might not fit in anywhere else,” as the website says.

Coovadia’s latest novel, A Spy in Time and Tiah Marie Beautement’s short story, Memento Mori were both shortlisted in their respective categories. Mashigo forms part of a team who work on Kwezi, a South African graphic novel about superheroes.
