Evadeen Brickwood Reports on Her Recent Trip to Germany
28 Jul 2016
PEN SA member Evadeen Brickwood recently spent time in Germany and has written about the readings she gave while she was there:
I held three readings: Kinder des Mondes on 30 June 2016 at the Youth-Library in the Prinz-Max-Palais in Karlsruhe. The enthusiasm of a grade-five class and other people in the audience during the subsequent discussion was contagious! They fell over each other to help me read excerpts from the book, which left the librarians speechless. Lol.
There was also a reading on 1 July at the American Library in Karlsruhe (Children of the Moon) and on 6 July 2016 at the Buecherhalle Blankenese (Singende Eidechsen) in Hamburg. There were readers of all sorts of nationalities in the audience at Blankenese: German, Finnish, Brazilian and Syrian (!)
The reception of both the German and English books at the different events was overwhelmingly positive and I have attached pictures of these events.
The preparations by our German author-network for the Leipzig Book Fair 2017 (March/April) is already in full swing and I will give more readings in Germany around that time.
