Yewande Omotoso Shortlisted for International Dublin Literary Award 2018

Congratulations to PEN SA Board Member Yewande Omotoso, whose book The Woman Next Door was shortlisted for the 2018 International Dublin Literary Award, one of the fiction world’s most prestigious international prizes.

Titles for the award are nominated by public libraries worldwide. Mohale Mashigo’s The Yearning and Nthikeng Mohlele’s Pleasure were longlisted for this year’s award, but were not shortlisted. No South African has yet won the award.

The International DUBLIN Literary Award is worth €100,000 to the winner. If the book has been translated the author receives €75,000 and the translator received €25,000. The award was launched on 7th April 1995 and is now in its 23rd year.

The winner will be announced on 13 June.
