Writers’ Organizations and Free Expression Project Looking for Post-Doc Research Assistant

POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT (Writers’ Organizations and Free Expression) (Full-time)
Salary: £31,076 – £32,928 per annum (pro rata)
This full-time post is offered from 1 January 2018 (or as soon as possible after this date), for a fixed term of 12 months.
The postholder will be based in St Hugh’s College, Oxford.
Following the award of research grants from the AHRC, the Faculty of English Language and Literature invites applications for the post of Research Assistant to contribute to the ‘Writers Organizations and Free Expression’ project. This is a collaborative project with the University of East Anglia and the CNRS in Paris.
Under the direction of Peter D McDonald the Research Associate will be responsible principally for extensive archival work in libraries in South Africa; collaborating with other members of the project team; liaising with International and South African PEN; helping with the coordination of the project partners and the running of the project; and contributing an essay to one of the key project outputs and shorter pieces to the website.
Applicants should possess a doctorate in English literature or a related discipline (which must have been submitted by the time the individual takes up the post), and should have experience of working with archival materials; excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to write for publication; and a high level of organisational skills.
