People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA) is calling for submissions of poetry, short stories and personal essays for its Women’s Writing Project:
POWA is calling for submissions for its annual Women’s Writing Project under the Theme: Painting My Future. We are calling for poems, short stories and personal essays that tells the story of a woman’s reflection on her life, hope and aspirations for the future. This speaks of women who have experienced shame, grief, fear as well as violence and came out of it even stronger. The theme embodies women who have stepped up and claimed their rightful place in society, women who are now free to speak out on South Africa’s Triple Challenge: Unemployment, Poverty and Inequality. The project is a platform for women to share their life’s experiences, future hopes, goals, and plans regardless of her lived reality.
