PEN SA Members and Staff on 2017 AIR Shortlist

Congratulations to PEN SA Board Member Sisonke Msimang, Head of Communications Nick Mulgrew, and members Efemia Chela and Simone Haysom, who have been named in the Africa Centre’s 2017 Artists in Residency Shortlist.

These shortlisted artists – as well as other artists from various disciplines – now stand a chance at being selected for a residency at the Bellagio Center (Italy), the Bundanon Trust (Australia), Fountainhead (USA), Instituto Sacatar (Brazil), JIWAR Creation & Society (Spain), and the International Studio and Curatorial Practice (USA).

Last year, we received a total of 351 applications […] The Africa Centre uses an external selection panel to shortlist its applicants.  These artists are then submitted to our partners for final selection. The Africa Centre team is proud to present its shortlist of 28 innovative and socially engaged artists.
