Karen Jennings and Kopano Matlwa Mabaso Shortlisted for 2015 Morland Writing Scholarships

PEN SA members Karen Jennings and Kopano Matlwa Mabaso have been shortlisted for the 2015 Morland Writing Scholarships.
The shortlist of twenty one includes a total of seven writers from South Africa, six from Nigeria, three from Ghana, two from Uganda, and one each from Zimbabwe, Egypt and Sudan. The judges Ellah Allfrey, Olufemi Terry and Muthoni Garland will meet on December 14th to discuss the shortlisted applications and will grant three Morland Writing Scholarships for fiction and one Morland Scholarship for non-fiction from this shortlist.
The scholarships aim to give writers the time to complete their work. The winning fiction writers will receive grants of £18 000, paid over the course of twelve months and the non-fiction writer will receive a grant of £27 000, paid over the course of eighteen months.
