Freedom of Expression Champion Award

The annual PEN South Africa Freedom of Expression Champion Award was established to recognise the people and organisations in South Africa who help to ensure freedom of expression in the country. The Award will celebrate people and organisations that are working to protect the value of freedom of expression that PEN is committed to. PEN SA will be accepting nominations for future recipients of the Award.

The inaugural award was given to Raymond Louw in 2016 and commemorated with a drawing by PEN SA member Zapiro.
