  • The Book Lounge’s 8th Birthday Party

    The Book Lounge is turning eight and will be celebrating with an evening of readings by Rebecca Davis, Damon Galgut, Siphokazi Jonas, Rosa Lyster and Wamuwi Mbao. They are also offering a 10% discount off everything all day.

  • A Literary Jol hosted by Aerodrome and Fourthwall Books
    Where: Fourthwall Books, Braamfontein, Johannesburg
    When: Thursday 3 December 2015, 6:30 PM
    The evening will start with readings of poetry and fiction performed by drama students from Wits University, followed by a DJ and craft cocktails. Copies of Aerodrome’s limited edition print journal will be on sale for R140.

  • Launch of Ons Klynji zine
    Where: The Book Lounge
    When: Thursday 3 December 2015, 5:30 PM for 6 PM

    The 2015 edition of the annual Ons Klynji zine, which was the first Afrikaans magazine to be published, is being launched. It now includes other languages and is edited by Toast Coetzer and Erns Grundling.

  • Badilisha Poetry Pan African Event
    Where: The Beautiful Life, Cape Town
    When: Friday 4 December 2015, 7 PM
    Badilisha Poetry X-Change will be hosting a poetry event to celebrate the end of the Badilisha Road Trip. It will feature a host of award winning internationally acclaimed poets from South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania and Ethiopia and beyond.

  • Tim Noakes Talk on Raising Superheroes
    Where: Cape Town Science Centre, Observatory, Cape Town
    When: Tuesday 8 December 2015, 6 Pm for 6:30 PM
    Cost: R150
    Tim Noakes will be discussing his latest co-written book, Raising Superheroes. The proceeds of this event will go directly to supporting visits to the Cape Town Science Centre of children from less advantaged communities, specifically during the forthcoming school holiday period 2015/16.

  • Cape Times Pre-Christmas Book Signing
    Where: Exclusive Books, Cavendish, Cape Town
    When: Friday 11 December 2015, 5 Pm to 7 PM
    PEN SA members Lauren Beukes, Peter Church, Joanne Hichens, Jacqui L’Ange, Mike Nicol and Rahla Xenopoulus will be at the event, where you can purchase their books and have them signed. A donation of 10% of every book sold will be donated to the Cape Times‘ ‘library in every school’ project.

  • Launch of Tyhini 2015
    Where: The Book Lounge
    When: Friday 11 December 2015, 5:30 PM for 6 PM
    Tyhini 2015 features writing from the MA in Creative Writing Course at Rhodes University. PEN SA member Kerry Hammerton has contributed to the anthology, which is edited by Paul Wessels and Robert Berold.
