Apply for the Next Book Dash in Johannesburg in October!
12 Sep 2018
Deadline: 20 September 2018
Applications are open for the next Book Dash, to take place at Streetlight Schools in Jeppestown, Johannesburg on Saturday the 27th of October 2018.
On a single Book Dash day, volunteer creative teams work fast to make beautiful African children’s books that anyone can freely access, print and distribute. All our books are made in 12-hour sprints by creative professionals who volunteer their time because they believe in our vision. To date, we’ve published 108 books this way, and printed and distributed over 200 000 copies to children across the country.
This is the Comrades of creativity and we’d love you to join us!
This Book Dash is sponsored by the Otto Foundation.
In the application form, so say the organisers, you should “tell us about yourself, and your experience writing, editing, designing, or illustrating. You will apply as an individual, but can request to work with a friend, if you are both successful in your applications and apply for different positions within the team.
If you’re not a writer, illustrator, designer or editor, but are still passionate about children’s literacy, why not apply to help out in a support role? We need photographers, videographers, tech support, art directors and social media storytellers to make Book Dash a success.
Applications close on Thursday, 20th September 2018. No late applications will be accepted. This is a volunteer-based event, and no one gets paid for their participation on the day: the books are our gift to the world!”
