Anton Krueger and Megan Lewis win 2017 Hiddingh-Currie Award

Congratulations to PEN SA member Anton Krueger and co-author Prof. Megan Lewis for being awarded the Hiddingh-Currie Award for 2017. Their book, Three decades of making space: Magnet Theatre, was given the prize by UNISA Press as a recognition of being:

  • An academic or artistic work of the highest quality which contributes to the understanding or development of the discipline, or

  • A work that addresses a specific need or problem in society.

The Hiddingh-Currie Memorial Fund was established in 1933, using funds from the sale of the old University Buildings in Cape Town, which had been built using contributions by Dr William Hiddingh and Sir Donald Currie.

The award will be formally presented to Lewis and Kreuger. They shall share a R20000 prize, and will have the publication costs of the book refunded.
